About Copelin Media

I have been building things for as long as I can remember. As a kid, it was Legos all over the bedroom floor, vehicles for whatever adventure my favorite stuffed animal was on that week. When I wasn't doing that, I was at my Dad’s Yamaha synthesizer, playing music badly and loving every minute of it.

Trumpet came in middle school, marching band and music composition in high school. Then I took a video production class, and that was it. I had found the thing that used every part of my brain at once.

I am Michael Copelin, and Copelin Media is what that turned into.

What I do now

I make video, branding, and marketing content for small businesses across Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Greeley, and the rest of Northern Colorado. I also film weddings, which is still some of my favorite work I do all year.

When you hire Copelin Media, you get me. I run the consultation, hold the camera, cut the edit, and hand you the final files. Nobody gets handed off to an account manager, and nothing gets farmed out to someone you have never met.

That matters more than it sounds like it should. It means I actually know your business by the time we start filming. It means you can text me a question and get an answer from the person who made the thing. And it means you are not paying agency overhead for work that one experienced person can do well.

How I got here

I studied Digital Filmmaking and Video Production at the Art Institute of Colorado. I graduated with the school's Best Editing award, which still means a lot to me because editing is where a good story is actually made.

I have been shooting professionally since 2014: weddings, special events, commercial work, concerts, and small business video. Over a dozen weddings, dozens of business projects, and a whole lot of Colorado weather I did not plan for.

Somewhere along the way, I picked up the rest of it too. Graphic design, brand identity, websites and SEO, photography, music and audio production. I did not set out to be a generalist, but when you work with small businesses, being able to solve the next problem yourself is worth more than a narrow specialty.

What it’s like to work with me

I start every project with a free consultation, and I will tell you honestly if what you want is not worth the money. I would rather scope a project down and do it well than take a budget I do not think I can earn back for you.

I plan around your schedule, not mine. I keep the shoot day calm, because most people are not used to being on camera, and a rushed set shows up in the footage. And you get one point of contact from the first call to final delivery.

Outside of work

Everything I do is for my beautiful wife and our two sons. Family is the whole reason this business exists, and it is why weddings and family milestones are work I take personally rather than treat as another booking.

The rest of me is pretty simple: nature, animals, science, technology, and music I am still making at home after all these years.
